Professional Nurse Development Program
A PART OF CENTER FOR EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The Professional Nurse Development Program (PNDP) is a sweeping innovation for nursing staff at Stanford Health Care, transforming the original nursing ladder program that was implemented in the early 1970s.
Stanford Health Care strives to recognize and reward exemplary care delivery, patient advocacy and improvements in patient outcomes as evidenced through professional nursing practice.
A professional development ladder sets nurses on an intentional path towards performing to the full extent of their scope of practice, and beyond. It challenges nurses to strive for the highest levels of nursing practice.
Stanford nurses demonstrate the ability to surpass expectations as demonstrated daily throughout the inpatient and outpatient settings. The PNDP program brings to life our professional practice model and empowers informal nurse leaders at the bedside to transform their leadership qualities through innovative strategies in care delivery.
This voluntary program for nurses at SHC also rewards and recognizes nurse leaders for their dedication to improving the quality of patient care through annual portfolio peer reviews. It is truly a reflection of healing humanity through science and compassion one patient at a time.
