Biography
Dr. Steffner specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors in pediatric and adult patients. This includes primary bone and soft tissue sarcomas, locally active conditions such as giant cell tumor, aneurysmal bone cyst, and chondroblastoma, as well as impending and pathologic fractures from metastatic carcinoma, multiple myeloma, and lymphoma. He works closely with the multidisciplinary sarcoma group at the Stanford Cancer Center to provide coordinated, highly specialized treatment strategies.
Research interests include circulating tumor DNA in bone and soft tissue sarcomas, local drug delivery, establishment of a national bone and soft tissue registry, and collaborative clinical studies on imaging and soft tissue management.

All personnel were excellent! Very professional.

Dr. Steffner explained everything to me extremely clearly, listened to my comments and questions acknowledge them in a way that I can understand, and truly cared about how I feel, and was quite pleased to give me good news during our visit. I would certainly not hesitate to recommend him to anybody looking for a thorough and caring doctor!

Dr. Steffner is very thorough in his evaluation of my health care. I am very confident in his care and I know he has my best interest in mind.
He never made it clear if he was the right person for me even asking him numerous times if he was comfortable. He made it clear that distance was a problem although I assured him that I could relocate once a assessment was made and a care plan discussed. Even suggested stopping video visits and do in person visit with him and any other specialist moving forward. I feel Dr. Steffner, misrepresents the mission statement of Stanford Health.

After having a surgery, there should be an assigned professional/nurse to visit and change dressing. Other family members will have to do it, but they definitely don’t like it and they don’t know how.

Dr. Steffner took the time to make me feel comfortable about what was going on with my body and explained the next steps well.
