Continuing Education for Nurses: Past Education Courses
Geriatric Nursing: Caring for the Hospitalized Older Adult
This course addresses the challenging needs of the growing geriatric population across the continuum.
The series is designed to enhance the healthcare provider’s knowledge of evidence-based geriatric care to improve patient outcomes.
Program Objectives
- Identify vulnerabilities that place the older adult at high risk of hospital-associated disability
- Discuss current evidenced-based practices for ADL adaption and mobility preservation in the home/community
- Learn strategies for assessing and intervening to mitigate the impact of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia
- Explain how health care professionals can coach caregivers to communicate effectively
- Describe palliative care considerations for the geriatric population
