Quality Management for the Registered Nurse
Nursing care is a vital factor in hospital quality care.
Nurses at every level, from bedside clinical nurses to managers to directors, all play a key role in quality improvement and management.
Gaining an understanding of this key role can provide nurses insight on how to promote patient care quality at the bedside and beyond.
This course gives an overview of Quality Management (QM) for the clinical nurse, including explaining key concepts and programs that impact their daily practice.
These include internal resources/departments, external regulatory agencies, patient safety related initiatives, quality metrics, and a variety of activities that support the delivery of safe patient care.
Program Objectives
- Identify key components of QM
- Differentiate between the focus activities of Accreditation & Regulations and Patient Safety
- Explain Risk Management and QI proactive and reactive activities
- Demonstrate an understanding of what QM means in practice
- Describe one Nursing Quality initiative
