Frederico Gustavo Borche-Gianelli, M.Div. BCC-ACHPC
Cancer Care Chaplain - Palo Alto
Frederico is a Roman Catholic Lay Chaplain, Board Certified by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, with Advanced Certification as a Hospice Palliative Chaplain. He studied philosophy and theology as part of priesthood training, holds the equivalent of a Master of Divinity degree from the University of “Monsignor Mariano Soler” in Montevideo, Uruguay, and studied theology at Mount St. Mary’s College, Los Angeles, CA. He completed a Clinical Pastoral Education internship and residency at St. Camillus Center for Urban Interfaith Spiritual Care. Before coming to Stanford, Frederico worked as a chaplain on the Pediatric and Adult Palliative Care Team. He was an active member on the LAC + USC’s Ethics Committee and Tissues and Organs Donation Committee.
Taqwa Surapati, GCIC
Cancer Care Chaplain - South Bay
Taqwa completed her chaplain residency at Stanford Health Care, before going to Hartford Seminary in Connecticut for a Graduate Certification in Islamic Chaplaincy in 2014. Prior to that, Taqwa served for a decade as a Spiritual Care volunteer at Stanford and other local hospitals in the San Jose area. Currently finishing her Master of Art in Islamic Studies from Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Taqwa’s interests include oncology chaplaincy, how people of faith think of end-of-life situations and advance health care planning. Taqwa came to the US in 1998 from Jakarta, Indonesia.
