Treatments for Multiple Sclerosis
Treatments
Although there is no cure for MS and treatment results vary among individuals, Stanford Health Care is dedicated to finding the best solution possible for each patient.
Treatments for MS may include corticosteroid medications to alleviate neural inflammation, immunomodulatory therapy to slow and modify the progression of symptoms, and symptomatic treatments.
There are currently 8 FDA-approved medications for MS treatment. These include a series of injectable therapies including Glatiramer Acetate and Interferon Beta therapies.
Patients now have the option of taking an oral form of treatment, Fingolimod. We also offer infusion services for Natalizumab and Mitoxantrone therapies.
In addition to MS disease treatments, we offer a variety of symptomatic medications to help with MS symptoms. One such approved medication to help with walking in MS patients is Ampyra.

Clinical Trials
Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate a new medical approach, device, drug, or other treatment. As a Stanford Health Care patient, you may have access to the latest, advanced clinical trials.
Open trials refer to studies currently accepting participants. Closed trials are not currently enrolling, but may open in the future.
