Diagnostic Tests for Acute Myeloid Leukemia
After a complete medical history and physical examination is done, you may get diagnostic tests for acute myeloid leukemia that include:
- Blood tests
- Bone marrow biopsy
- Cytogenetic analysis, a lab test where blood or bone marrow is viewed under a microscope to look for certain changes in chromosomes of the white blood cells
- Immunophenotyping, a test in which blood or bone marrow cells are looked at under a microscope
- Lumbar puncture (spinal tap), which can check whether cancer has spread to the spine or the brain
Clinical Trials for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate a new medical approach, device, drug, or other treatment. As a Stanford Health Care patient, you may have access to the latest, advanced clinical trials.
Open trials refer to studies currently accepting participants. Closed trials are not currently enrolling, but may open in the future.
