Crohn's Disease Symptoms
Symptoms of Crohn's Disease
Because Crohn's disease can affect any part of your intestine, symptoms can vary greatly from patient to patient.
Crohn's Disease Symptoms
Symptoms of Crohn's disease may include:
- Abdominal pain and cramping
- Bloating
- Diarrhea
- Loss of appetite
- Low energy (fatigue)
- Pain or drainage near or around your anus (perianal disease)
- Small tears in the lining of your anus (anal fissures)
Crohn's Disease: A Chronic Condition
Your symptoms may come and go, but you'll always have Crohn's disease. Some people go long periods of time, sometimes years, where they are symptom-free (remission). There is no way to predict when this may happen or when your symptoms will return.
Diagnosing Crohn's Disease

Clinical Trials
Clinical trials are research studies that evaluate a new medical approach, device, drug, or other treatment. As a Stanford Health Care patient, you may have access to the latest, advanced clinical trials.
Open trials refer to studies currently accepting participants. Closed trials are not currently enrolling, but may open in the future.
