Sclerotherapy - Varicose Vein Treatment
What Is Sclerotherapy?
During sclerotherapy, we use fine needles to inject unwanted veins with special solutions, causing them to swell and close. This causes varicose veins, spider veins and other vascular lesions to become lighter in color and less noticeable, with the body safely rerouting blood flow to other healthy vessels. In many cases the unsightly veins completely disappear.
Our sclerotherapy can provide dramatic and long-lasting results, with patients able to fully resume their activities two hours later — no restrictions.
What to expect with sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy typically causes blood vessels to fade over 6 to 8 weeks. You may need more than one treatment session — our recommendations will depend on:
- Your goals
- Number of veins
- Size of veins
- Location
You won't need anesthesia for the procedure — most people experience just mild discomfort for 15 to 30 seconds, describing it like a mosquito bite. The injected veins immediately disappear as blood is pushed out, then return to fade away over time.
Since many vessels are interconnected, one injection may eradicate several dozen at once.

Sclerotherapy
For sclerotherapy, a saline or chemical solution is injected into varicose veins, causing them to harden, shrivel, and eventually disappear.
