About this Treatment: Surgery for Non-Melanoma
Surgery for Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers
Surgery is the most common treatment for non-melanoma skin cancers, including basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas. Your doctor will consider the size, location, and aggressiveness of your cancer when recommending surgical approaches. The goal is to remove the cancer and a margin of healthy tissue to reduce the risk of recurrence.
Most surgical procedures can be performed in the doctor’s office on an outpatient basis.
Surgery is a treatment option for precancerous growths, as well for early, superficial and more progressed non-melanoma skin cancers.
