Support for Cancer Patients and Family
The Cancer Supportive Care Program is an integral part of the Stanford Cancer Center. We provide you with emotional, physical, and spiritual support through all stages of cancer survivorship: Living With, Through, and Beyond Cancer. We're here to help you strengthen your body, nurture hope and courage, and enrich your spirit. Our FREE support groups, classes, workshops, personal one-on-one consultations and services are open to all cancer patients in the community regardless of where you receive care. Choose the offerings that best meet your needs. You don't have to go through cancer alone.

Classes & Workshops
—Provided by the Cancer Supportive Care Program. This informative workshop is dedicated to give caregivers education, resource materials, and skills to provide support. The workshop is designed for new caregivers, but all those caring for someone with cancer are welcome to attend. This program is designed to help caregivers:
- Understand cancer and its treatments
- Cope with stress
- Deal with changing family roles
- Meet the physical and emotional needs of the patient
- Improve their own mental and physical health
- Seek out and take advantage of community resources

Patients who have undergone cancer treatments may be at risk for the development of lymphedema. In this session, you will learn about the causes, and how to identify early signs and symptoms. You will also learn about ways to decrease your risk of developing lymphedema, and steps you can take to be proactive in reducing your risk. This session is held by appointment with a Stanford Lymphedema nurse.

Mind, Body, Spirit
—This class will demonstrate head scarf tying techniques for women undergoing cancer treatment who desire to incorporate scarfs into their everyday look or for that special occasion. Bring your own scarf if desired. Demonstration scarfs will be available as well.

Partnering with the American Cancer Society we provide our community with a selection of free wigs for women undergoing cancer treatment. An experienced volunteer/facilitator is on hand to personally assist women in selecting a wig.

Exercise and Fitness
—This chair yoga class is designed to safely provide caregivers and patients with a set of moderate, stretching, strengthening, and balance exercises. This yoga sequence proceeds with gentle breathing, attitude bolstering, warmups, and standing balances (with chair support). For deepening relaxation, it uses a mindfulness bell to promote one-pointed focus.
Walk-ins welcome.

Healing Yoga will incorporate the mindful practices of yoga, breath work and meditation to build physical, mental and emotional strength and stamina. In the process, the class will help increase mental and physical flexibility, loosen tight and painful muscles, and create an opportunity to relax. The class is appropriate for all levels and will utilize both chair and standing postures.

Experienced and certified oncologyexercise specialists are available to meet with you via Zoom to develop an exercise plan tailored to your needs. Sessions are one-hour and one follow-up phone call is included.

This group meets once monthly to provide support to men with a diagnosis of or a history of treatment for prostate cancer. We meet in a confidential setting to speak and listen to other men who have faced the challenges of dealing with prostate cancer. The group is led by healthcare professionals experienced in prostate cancer treatment and follow-up. In addition to other educational opportunities, the group will learn about self-directed therapies that enable participants to achieve maximum wellness.
Jon Siiteri, PhD, PA-C has fifteen years of clinical experience in Urology. He is a certified practitioner of mind-body medicine and has five years of experience as a group facilitator in prostate cancer patient support groups. Jon is a member of our Stanford Uro-Oncology team.
No registration is necessary. Drop in.
