Patient Advisory Councils: Transplant PAC
Transplant Patient Advisory Council (PAC)
The Transplant Patient Advisory Council (PAC) seeks to provide non-clinical information to pre and post-transplant patients and their families to help them through their heart transplant experience.
Program goals
- To provide prospective heart transplant patients and their family information about the process of transplantation at Stanford.
- To provide continued engagement and education with post-transplant patients.

History of PAC:
The Patient Advisory Council (PAC) at Stanford Hospital & Clinics was founded in May 2011 with the mission of enhancing the patient care experience by assuring that the voices of patients and families were represented.
Purpose of the PAC:
To provide a way for patients and families to work together with members of the healthcare system. At Stanford Health Care, the Patient Advisory Council advises our leaders and the healthcare team about a variety of topics, including:
- To represent patient and family perspectives about the overall patient care experience
- To support our commitment to addressing the concerns of patients and families
- To work in an advisory and advocacy role to enhance care specific to the heart transplant population.
- To work in an advisory and advocacy role to enhance care at Stanford Health Care identifying patient and family-centered care strategies, reviewing and revising patient education materials, influencing and participating in the education of staff, and acting as a sounding board for the implementation or improvement of new and existing programs and facility design.
The input of the Patient Advisory Council makes an important contribution to the ongoing efforts within Stanford Health Care to improve patient care and services.
