Osteoporosis Treatment

We tailor your osteoporosis treatment plan to meet your specific needs, based on the type and severity of the disease. The goal of osteoporosis treatment is to improve overall quality of life with a focus on:

  • Decreasing pain
  • Preventing fractures
  • Minimizing further bone loss

Osteoporosis Rehabilitation Plan

In order to reach the goal of helping you return to the highest level of function and independence possible, osteoporosis rehabilitation programs may include the following:

  • Exercise programs and conditioning to increase weight bearing and physical fitness
  • Pain management techniques
  • Family and patient education, including fall prevention
  • Use of assistive devices to improve safety at home

Osteoporosis and Your Diet

Additionally, there is a nutritional component to osteoporosis treatments. This may include nutritional counseling with the goals of:

  • Increasing calcium intake
  • Increasing vitamin D intake
  • Decreasing caffeine and alcohol intake
