Eosinophilic Esophagitis
What Is Eosinophilic Esophagitis?
Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) happens when high numbers of white blood cells called eosinophils cause inflammation and swelling in your esophagus. EoE is a rare and newly recognized disease.
Eosinophils are normally not present in your esophagus. Having them in high numbers overwhelms your body's immune system. This triggers an allergic-like reaction that can eventually damage tissue in your esophagus.
Using a team approach to care, experts from the Esophagus Center work seamlessly with GI Nutrition Services to deliver personalized care.
