Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)
What Is Conjunctivitis?
Pink eye, or conjunctivitis, is inflammation of the conjunctiva — the thin membrane that covers both the inside of the eyelids and the white part of the eyeball (sclera).
Pink eye may go away on its own, but may require treatment. In many cases it is also highly contagious, and a common problem for children and their caregivers.
Stanford Conjunctivitis Expertise
At Stanford, we have experience treating not only the typical causes of conjunctivitis, but also the more unusual — and more severe — forms. Our program offers:
- Diagnostic approach that is more scientific and systematic, resulting in treatment that is quickly tailored to your condition
- Full range of specialists in the same building for more severe forms of disease, as well as any complications that might arise
- Ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric care
