Pink Eye Treatment
Pink Eye Treatment
Cold compresses and artificial tears can provide relief for many cases of pink eye. But we recommend seeing one of our doctors when you are experiencing:
- Decreased vision
- Extra sensitivity to light
- Extreme eye redness
- Excessive discharge from your eye
- Itchiness that is prompting you to rub your eyes (especially children)
Our treatments depend on the type of conjunctivitis that is diagnosed. We offer:
- Antibiotic drops: Antibiotics can help cure bacterial pink eye, but not the kind caused by viruses.
- Anti-histamine drops: Anti-histamine drops can help with both allergic and viral pink eye.
- Antivirals: We may prescribe an anti-viral drug for more severe cases of viral pink eye.
- Steroids: We may recommend a topical steroid if viral pink eye is particularly serious. But our doctors have the expertise to approach this treatment cautiously, since it can harm peripheral vision if not closely monitored.
