Heart Failure Symptoms
Heart Failure Symptoms
The symptoms of heart failure may vary and often resemble those of other medical conditions. If you have any unexplained symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor for an expert diagnosis.
In early stages of heart failure, some people with a weak heart don't experience any symptoms. This delays treatment and the heart failure worsens, resulting in symptoms such as:
- Visible swelling of the legs and ankles, and occasionally, the abdomen
- Bloating
- Dizziness, lightheadedness and fainting
- Fatigue and weakness
- Irregular or rapid heartbeats
- Loss of appetite and nausea
- Persistent cough
- Reduced urination
- Shortness of breath during rest, exercise, or lying flat
- Weight gain
Heart Failure Diagnosis
Heart failure can be challenging to diagnose, because these symptoms can resemble symptoms of many other medical conditions. That is why it's important to receive care at an expert heart center that will get you an accurate diagnosis. Once you have a diagnosis, we can tailor your treatment plan appropriately.
